How a recruiting service provider makes the success of job advertisements visible for clients

23 May 24

As an HR tech company, solique AG supports its clients in the creation and distribution – so-called multiposting – of job advertisements on job platforms. In order to measure and continuously optimize the success of customer-specific advertising strategies, solique pursues a strongly data-driven approach. The interactions with each published job advertisement are therefore analyzed in detail: How often was an ad viewed? How often did potential applicants view individual details such as benefits or a video? And how often did this actually result in a lead?

In order to provide its customers with these valuable evaluations, solique has developed an interactive analytics dashboard together with Datahouse. The start page shows an overview of all active and past publications, broken down by the platforms on which the advertisements were placed. Of course, costs are also relevant in this context – important KPIs such as costs per platform or per lead gained are therefore calculated in real time and visualized in charts.

Two charts show the published advertisements and the costs incurred in a selected period.

Flexible business intelligence tool in the background

Apache Superset is used as the business intelligence tool in this project. The existing customer database with all the statistics on the job advertisements and the associated interactions was connected directly to the dashboard. This allows the interaction data to be analyzed in real time and presented clearly.

The filters in Superset allow customers to filter and sort the statistics relating to their job advertisements according to relevant criteria. For example, the filter box contains a time filter that restricts the data displayed in the charts to the last month, the last two quarters or the last 10 years. However, specific time periods are also possible – the desired start and end times can be conveniently selected in a calendar. Depending on the defined period, a dropdown allows the user to select the time resolution, for example whether the chart with the number of publications visualizes the weekly, monthly or annual values.

The time filter allows the user to conveniently select a relevant time period.

Various chart types such as bar or donut charts show aggregated values. Tooltips add important details as soon as you move the mouse over the charts. Where the pure figures are relevant, the dashboard shows tables that can be sorted as required. All the data on which the tables and charts are based can be downloaded with a single click.

Customized configuration of the open source software

With an open source tool, customers like solique benefit in two ways: on the one hand, expensive, recurring license fees can be saved, and on the other hand, adjustments to the source code allow tailor-made solutions.

For example, individually configured OAuth solutions already existed for this product, which solique would also like to use for the dashboard – so customers work with a single login for all of solique’s software solutions. To achieve this, the dashboard was connected to existing login methods. Thanks to the row-level security in Superset, the dashboard is personalized for each customer.

A table shows the publications relevant to the user currently logged in.

The interaction of the dashboard with existing software solutions is also interesting: In other solique applications, for example, user-defined URLs are displayed on the dashboard, which dynamically pre-fill the filter box in Superset with one click and thus present the user with an individual view of certain charts. This results in seamless interaction between the dashboard and the other applications.

A business intelligence solution such as Superset can offer significant added value for smaller customers such as solique with little effort and is still flexible enough to respond to individual requirements.
